This page covers the Sidekick game (played on its website or in the box inside Kick chat) and the browser add-on Sidekick for Kick. Short version: Sidekick keeps your Kick name and number and your game stuff. Never your password, never the text of your chat messages, and nothing gets sold.
What the game keeps when you sign in
You sign in with Kick in Kick's own window. Sidekick asks Kick only for permission to know who you are (Kick's user:read permission). It can't post in chat for you, and it never sees your password. The Sidekick server keeps:
- your Kick user number and Kick name;
- the sign-in tokens Kick gives the server for your account, used to keep you signed in;
- when you last signed in;
- your game data: points, bets, looks, collectibles, board places and profile choices;
- your bet history, kept for 7 days by default;
- short records of your messages in the streams' chats, which Kick sends to the server so you can earn chat points. A record holds a fingerprint of the text (a one-way code that can't be turned back into words), its length and the numbers of any Kick emotes in it, not the message itself. Records are removed after 30 days by default; your points stay.
Cookies
- The game uses one sign-in cookie on its website, which scripts can't read.
- The box inside Kick chat uses its own separate sign-in cookie,
__Host-sidekick_embed. It works only for the game shown inside kick.com, scripts can't read it, and it lasts up to 24 hours. It can never open the streamer's owner tools. If your browser refuses it, the box tells you and you can play on the website instead. - This information website (sidekick.boo) sets no cookies.
What the add-on keeps
Sidekick for Kick shows the game table in the chat column on kick.com. It stores two small things in your browser:
- its setting: whether the box is shown, whether it sits in the chat or floats, and where;
- the list of channel names that get the box, fetched from the Sidekick server about once an hour with no cookies and nothing about you.
The add-on doesn't read the chat on the Kick page; it only finds where the chat is so it can place the box. It runs only on kick.com and can't see other websites or your browsing history.
What is never collected
- Your Kick password.
- The text of your chat messages.
- Your browsing history.
- Advertising or tracking identifiers. Sidekick uses no analytics and no ads.
Internet addresses and logs
The game server uses your internet address only for a short time, in memory, to limit how many requests one address can make. It keeps no visitor logs. This information website is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles requests to it under its own privacy policy.
Who sees what
- Other players see your Kick name and your look at the tables and in the game.
- Your points total and rank stay private unless you turn them on in your profile.
- Your data is not sold and not shared for advertising. Sign-in goes through Kick, and Kick's privacy policy covers what Kick does.
- The game runs on a private server rented by the streamer behind Sidekick.
How long things are kept
- Chat records: 30 days. Bet history: 7 days. (The streamer can change these.)
- An account with no sign-in and no chat for 12 months has its data deleted automatically, the same way as below.
- Server backups age out on their own: hourly ones after 2 days, daily ones after 14 days.
Deleting your data
- Removing the add-on from your browser deletes its setting and channel list.
- To have your Sidekick data deleted, email hello@sidekick.boo or ask the streamer in chat. Your Kick name and number, sign-in tokens and chat records are deleted and you are signed out. Your points history stays in the game's books as "Former player", without your name. Older copies in backups disappear as the backups age out.
